Winemaker Wednesday - Fingers Crossed (ft. Nikolas Krankl)

Nikolas and Julia Krankl launched Fingers Crossed in 2017. Nikolas trained with Jim Binns of Andremily and Manfred Krankl of Sine Qua Non before launching his own label alongside Julia, producing under 2,000 cases a year and building a cult following of their own. He doesn't do many events.

But on July 29, he's coming to Gravesend for a special Winemaker Wednesday to pour a flight of four wines including the latest 2023 lineup and the 100-point 2022 Syrah. The four wines are:

2023 Chardonnay Brain Teaser: Chardonnay, Roussanne, and Marsanne. 63% new French oak (95-97 pts, JD)

2023 GSM Brain Teaser — Southern Rhone-inspired blend with 23% whole clusters (96-99 pts, JD)

2023 Syrah Brain Teaser — sourced from Bien Nacido, Stolpman, Rancho Boa Vista, and Sanger (97-100 pts, JD)

2022 Syrah Life & Death — 100 points (JD).

Come taste through the lineup and spend the evening with Nikolas. Opportunities like this don't find their way to Paso often.

Their wines will also be available to purchase.

$50 tasting flight.

Winemaker Wednesday - Tercero Wines (ft. Larry Schaffer)

Larry Schaffer built Tercero Wines around Rhône varieties. He's spent decades sourcing small blocks from Santa Barbara County's best vineyards, and the wines show it: bold, a little wild, unmistakably his.

Come meet "Mr. Rhône Ranger" and taste a flight of four Tercero wines. Chef Amy Baer will have her menu ready to complete the night.

$20 per person. Flight of four wines.

Winemaker Wednesday - Alta Colina (ft. Dallas Parnigoni + Bob and Lynn Tillman)

Dallas Parnigoni started making wine in his family's vineyard in Kentucky, then worked harvests in Australia, the Sierra Foothills, and Santa Cruz before landing at Alta Colina. He now runs the cellar on 130 acres of Rhône varieties in Paso Robles' Adelaida District, working each block on its own timeline. Owners Bob and Lynn Tillman, who founded the winery in 2003, will be sharing the evening with us too.

Taste a flight of four Alta Colina wines and hear how Dallas approaches his work. Chef Amy Baer has her great menu available all night.

$25 per person • Flight of four wines
